This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our digital platform, which connects Irish creative talent with global opportunities (“Services”).
We collect different types of information to operate SkillzCollab effectively and provide you with the best experience:
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account registration details (such as your name, email address, and password).
- Profile information you choose to add (skills, portfolio, creative samples, biography).
- Content you upload or create on SkillzCollab (project submissions, designs, files, posts, comments).
- Payment or billing details when you purchase or sell creative services (handled securely through third-party providers).
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data, such as how you interact with the platform (features you use, projects you view, and your activity on creative briefs).
- Log data, including access times, error reports, and diagnostic information.
1.3 Information from third parties
- We may receive limited information from third-party service providers such as payment processors, as necessary to complete transactions or improve platform functionality.
Definitions
- “Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
- “Processing” means any operation performed on personal data, such as collection, storage, use, disclosure, or deletion.
- “Profiling” means any automated processing of personal data to evaluate personal aspects, such as preferences, interests, or behaviour.
2. How we use your information
We use your personal data to:
- Deliver Our Services: Enable you to create an account, showcase your portfolio, and participate in creative briefs.
- Connect Creatives and Brands: Facilitate collaborations between Irish talent and international companies.
- Improve SkillzCollab: Analyse how the platform is used to enhance features, fix issues, and create a better user experience.
- Personalise Content: Recommend projects, opportunities, or creative connections tailored to your profile.
- Handle Payments: Process secure transactions for services and subscriptions.
- Communicate with You: Send updates, respond to support requests, and notify you of changes to our policies or services.
- Ensure Security: Protect against fraud, misuse, or unauthorised activity on the platform.
- Comply with Law: Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
SkillzCollab will not use your data or uploaded work for promotional or marketing purposes without your explicit consent. If you provide consent to feature your profile or work in promotions (e.g. newsletters, showcases, or social media), you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Unauthorised promotional use without valid consent may make SkillzCollab liable for corrective or compensatory action.
Our Legal Bases for Processing
We rely on the following lawful bases under GDPR when processing your personal data:
- Delivering our services (e.g., account creation, portfolio hosting): Performance of a contract.
- Processing payments: Legal obligation and contract.
- Sending marketing communications: Consent.
- Improving our platform and ensuring security: Legitimate interests.
- Complying with tax, legal, and regulatory duties: Legal obligation.
Payments made through SkillzCollab are processed securely via Remitly, our authorised third-party payment partner.
- Payment data shared with Remitly is limited to what is necessary for completing the transaction.
- SkillzCollab does not store your full payment information (such as card or bank details).
- Payment data is retained for 90 days for verification or dispute purposes and then deleted or anonymised.

3. How We Share Information
We respect your trust and only share your data when necessary:
- With Other Users: Your name, profile, and shared creative work will be visible to other users and brands engaging on the platform.
- With Service Providers: We share data only with carefully selected third-party providers who support the operation of SkillzCollab.
- For Legal Reasons: If required by law, regulation, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
- During Business Changes: If SkillzCollab merges, sells assets, or restructures, your data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or unrelated third parties.
4. International data transfers
SkillzCollab connects Irish creatives with global clients. This means your information may be transferred and processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
When this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including the use of the latest EU Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where necessary, additional technical and organisational measures such as encryption. These safeguards are designed to ensure that your rights and protections travel with your data.
5. Data retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, and in line with legal and regulatory obligations. Specifically:
- Account and profile data: Personal data will be retained for one (1) year following account closure, unless a longer period is required for tax, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes.
- Payment and billing data: Financial and billing data will be retained for 90 days in compliance with legal obligations. After this period, data will be securely deleted or anonymised.
- Usage and log data: Retained for up to 24 months before being anonymised or deleted.
We retain personal data for legal compliance, fraud prevention, and service improvement. Where retention is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise your data.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
SkillzCollab uses only essential cookies to enable secure login sessions and core functionality. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies at this stage. Where required by law, we will seek user consent before placing any non-essential cookies in the future. For details, refer to our Cookie Policy.
7. Your rights
You can contact us at any time to:
- Request access to your data.
- Correct or update inaccurate information.
- Request deletion or restriction of processing.
- Raise a concern or dispute about data use.
All data-related requests and appeals can be directed to data@skillzcollab.com. For payment or transaction disputes, users can reach our internal dispute team at disputes@skillzcollab.com. SkillzCollab aims to acknowledge all requests within 5–7 business days and provide a response within 30 business days.
User IP & Copyright Responsibility
- Users are responsible for ensuring their uploaded work does not infringe any copyright or third-party rights. SkillzCollab is not liable for user-generated copyright violations.
- Users must specify copyright ownership or licensing terms when submitting work.
- Any disputes regarding ownership or infringement should be addressed directly between the parties involved.

8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption and secure storage. However, no system is 100% secure, so we encourage you to protect your login details and report any suspicious activity. Data is secured using industry-standard technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and at rest. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you promptly, in accordance with applicable law. Notification may be made by email, in-app notification, or other direct communication methods, and, where required, to the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
9. Children's privacy
SkillzCollab is open to users of all ages who wish to participate in creative collaboration. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data or identification details from minors. Parents or guardians are encouraged to supervise participation where appropriate. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information without the necessary consent, we will delete it immediately.
10. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you via email or through the platform before their implementation.
